Change is in the air…

Of COURSE, I had a plan.

It was carefully crafted and strategic. It was slow-paced, following a 3-year trajectory of gradual growth. The end goal was clear and concise: to provide farm-fresh goods to the community. I hadn’t decided if I would go the CSA route or pursue booth space at a Farmer’s Market yet, but I was eyeing Norman’s market… the highly competitive one, of course.

Turns out, though, that the people are hungry for what I have to offer.

Last week, I reached out to the Norman market manager to get some insights on the state of her vendor roster. I was thinking about dipping my toes in during the off-season when it was rumored to be easier to land a booth. Maybe I can try out some of my baked goods, I thought. Throw out some seasoning mixes. Experiment with taking broiler orders and see what sticks.

But the email exchange quickly escalated. “How about taking a booth at the Moore location right away? We need a chicken producer!”

What the heck?! That’s not on my agenda for this year! I just finished a round of broilers! I only do them to fill orders right now! What do you meeeean you sell out of chickens every single week???

I guess that’s what I get for populating my website with a vision for the future. 😂

So, here I am, scrambling to figure out how to produce as many broilers as possible to take to market this summer. Truth be told, I’m way behind. My broilers won’t make it to the freezer until the end of July at this point. BUT, I’m also approximately two years ahead of MY timeline.

Will it shoot me to the moon? Or will it send me back to therapy?

Ah, heck, who am I kidding? I never stopped needing therapy. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Here’s to the excitement of unexpected opportunities and all the growth they can bring. I don’t expect it to be easy, rising to this challenge… I DO, however, expect it to be rewarding in all sorts of ways.

I’m comin’ for ya’, Moore! 💪🏼
